Wireless Ultra-Low Temperature Sensor with Probe (1m)
SS3-110
Ultra-low freezers hold the samples, reagents and medications that are hardest to replace, and a failing unit can go unnoticed for hours. The SS3-110 watches them continuously. The Swift Sensors Remote Ultra-Low Temperature Sensor includes a 1m (3 ft.) sealed temperature probe and can measure temperatures between -100°C to +32°C (-148°F to +90°F). This sensor is ideal for monitoring temperatures in extreme environments, difficult-to-reach locations, and liquids. The IP66-rated sensor enclosure is water-resistant and dust proof. A Wireless Low Temperature Sensor for Ultra-Low Freezers
A -80°C freezer needs a dedicated low temperature sensor. On the SS3-110, the sealed probe on its 1m cable takes the reading, while the sensor body, rated to operate from -40°C to +85°C, holds the batteries and electronics. Readings travel over Bluetooth 5 (BLE5) to a Swift Sensors gateway and on to the Swift Sensors Cloud Console, which makes the SS3-110 a wireless low temperature sensor with no wiring to run.
Each reading is accurate to .35°C with 0.01°C precision. The sensor checks the temperature every 1 to 30 minutes (every 5 minutes by default) and runs 6 to 8 years on two replaceable AAA lithium batteries. When a freezer drifts out of range, instant alerts via email, SMS, or phone call reach your team day or night, and every reading is stored for compliance reports and audits.
Typical uses:
- -80°C and -70°C ultra-low freezers in medical and research labs
- Pharmaceuticals that must be stored at sub-zero temperatures
- Liquids and hard-to-reach spaces where the sealed probe fits and a sensor body does not
Among the low temperature sensors Swift Sensors offers, the SS3-110 covers the coldest end of the wireless temperature sensors range. If you are comparing low temp sensors for standard refrigerators and freezers that stay above -40°C, the stainless steel probe sensors (SS3-105S, SS3-105-10 and SS3-105-15) are the usual choice.
Swift Sensors offers NIST Calibration services through an independent ANAB ISO 17025: 2017 accredited laboratory. Swift Sensors manages all calibration logistics prior to initial sensor delivery and ensures seamless annual calibration renewal.

Ultra-Low Freezer Questions
Yes. The probe measures down to -100°C (-148°F), which covers -80°C and -70°C ultra-low freezers with room to spare. Alert thresholds are set in the Swift Sensors Cloud Console, and setting one close to the freezer’s normal operating temperature gives your team the most time to act.

No, and for most freezer monitoring that is an advantage. A low temperature switch opens or closes a circuit at one fixed setpoint, usually to trip a relay or a local alarm, and keeps no record. The SS3-110 measures the actual temperature continuously and sends every reading to the Swift Sensors Cloud Console, where alarm thresholds are set in software and can be changed at any time without rewiring. If you need to monitor an existing mechanical switch, the SS3-603 Wireless Contact/Switch Sensor is built for that job.
No. Liquid nitrogen boils at about -196°C, well below the SS3-110’s -100°C lower limit. For liquid nitrogen and other storage below -100°C, Swift Sensors uses the SS3-117 Universal 2-Channel Thermocouple Adapter with a third-party T-type thermocouple probe, which reports to the same Swift Sensors Cloud Console.
FAQ
A Swift Sensors system requires the purchase of at least one gateway, at least one sensor, and a monitoring plan.
- We offer over 30 types of wireless sensors. Each sensor is smaller than a credit card and has battery life of 6-8 years. The sensor transmits data via Bluetooth 5 (BLE5) and connects to the gateway with a push of a button.
- The gateway receives data from each sensor and then transmits the data to the cloud console via local ethernet, WiFi, or cellular network (optional module). Each gateway supports up to 150 sensors within 100 m line of sight (30 m non line of sight).
- The monitoring plan is very simple. The fee is based on the number of sensors you deploy. You can pay monthly, annually, or multi-year. There are no contracts required. View real-time analytics, download compliance reports, and receive instant mobile alerts on any device.
The sensor range is generally 100 m line of sight (30 m non line of sight) depending on the facility infrastructure and equipment located between the sensor and the gateway. The SS3-901 and SS3-902 reach 200 m line of sight and 60 m non line of sight.
Each sensor uses two AAA lithium polymer batteries with an average lifespan of 6-8 years. Replacement batteries are readily available at hardware stores and various retail locations.
