School Vape Detectors

Vaping has become a public health threat among students, with more than 2 million middle and high school students currently using e-cigarettes regularly. School administrators around the country are experiencing firsthand how widespread vaping is on campuses. But as ubiquitous as vaping has become, it is difficult for safety officers, teachers, and administrators to enforce school policy against vaping with traditional methods of surveillance and intervention.

The Indoor Air Quality Sensor is easy to deploy for vape detection throughout school premises, including restrooms and locker rooms, where cameras are not permitted due to privacy concerns. When the sensor detects vaping, it triggers an instant alert, notifying school officials via email, text message, or a centralized monitoring console, enabling immediate intervention. Moreover, the sensors are designed to be tamper-proof and discreet, preventing any attempts at disabling or vandalizing them.

A robust API and native integration with the leading video surveillance system round out a comprehensive set of advanced monitoring capabilities.

Deterrence and Enforcement

Smoking and vaping in restrooms and other private spaces is a growing concern and difficult to monitor with traditional surveillance methods. Swift Sensors Indoor Air Quality Sensor is designed with privacy in mind, detecting events and triggering alerts without recording any personally identifiable information. Several measurements are aggregated into a high-level Vape Score. Values greater than 10 represent an increasing probability that vaping or smoking is taking place. Additionally, the sensor detects other events that may occur during vaping activity such as motion, noise, and tampering with the device.

How Vape Detection Works

The Indoor Air Quality Sensor transmits measurements wirelessly through a secure gateway to the cloud console where analytics can be viewed on any device. Thresholds and alerts are configured in the console to enable an immediate response.
