Account Management

Role-Based Access Control

Defining roles within the Console is easy and simple. Six unique categories of defined roles can be assigned to multiple users within your registered Console account. The defined roles include:

  • Reader – Browse the list, dashboards, map, thresholds, and notifications in read-only mode, and build reports.
  • Editor – Reader privileges plus management of the list, dashboards, thresholds, notifications, and deleting empty bridges.
  • Admin – Editor privileges plus management of users, WiFi settings, and deleting sensors.
  • Multi-Account Reader – Reader privileges on the home account and all sub-accounts.
  • Multi-Account Editor – Editor privileges on the home account and all sub-accounts.
  • Multi-Account Admin – Admin privileges on the home account and all sub-accounts, plus management of Multi-Account Admin users.

With these different levels of administration, the assurance of reliability, control and access is defined strictly by you. Utilizing each role can aid in the workflow and efficiency of your facility.

Migrate Bridge

The Migrate Bridge feature allows Multi-account Admin users to migrate a bridge to another account. Any sensors and measurements attached to this bridge will also be migrated to the destination account. Any thresholds, conversions, shift schedules, or goals attached to migrating measurements will be copied to the destination account. Copied items will appear with an asterisk (*) on the destination account, and their description will show the name of the origin account. The Migrate Bridge command is accessed from the gear menu of any bridge details page.

Add Parent Account

The Add Parent Account feature allows Multi-account Admin users to create a new account above an existing account, and migrate one or more users from the existing account to the new parent account. This is useful when an organization decides to grow from a single account to multiple sibling accounts, all managed under a new parent account. The Add Parent Account command is accessed from the gear menu of any Admin / Accounts / Account Details page.

Nested Sub-accounts

Multi-account admin users in sub accounts have control over their account and any child accounts but not their parent account. This allows for account hierarchies nested as deep as necessary to properly represent the relationships among distributors, resellers, customers, regions, departments, and so on. Notifications can also be triggered by measurements, bridges, and sensors in descendant accounts. This allows users to monitor measurements and hardware across many sub-accounts using one notification created on the parent account.

Migrate Account

Multi-account Admin users can organize their existing account hierarchy by migrating accounts.  The Migrate Account page is accessed from the gear menu above the account list on the Admin / Accounts page, and supports drag and drop operations similar to how bridges and sensors are moved in the hardware and measurement lists.

Two-Factor Authentication

“Two-factor authentication provides an extra layer of security to your Swift Sensors Console user account. Your user account is more secure because even if someone else obtains your password, they cannot sign in without access to your phone.”

Setup
In the Swift Sensors Console’s navbar, click on the User menu at the top right and select Settings. In the User Profile section, click the Edit icon in the Two-Factor Authentication panel. Check the Enabled checkbox and save using the check button.
Usage
When two-factor authentication is enabled, you will be asked to enter a six-digit one-time password sent to your phone the next time you sign-in. If nobody else has access to your device, you can select the checkbox Trust this device. A trusted device allows sign-in without a one-time password for 30 days. Using trusted devices provides the security benefits of two-factor authentication without the hassle. But if one or more of your trusted devices is lost or stolen, you can easily delete the trust from all devices by using the red delete button in the Two-Factor Authentication panel.
Hints
If you receive a six-digit one-time password on your phone but you are not signing in, this means that two-factor authentication stopped someone from gaining access. Change your password immediately. Please remember to keep your phone information in the Swift Sensors Console up to date. If you switch phone numbers and cannot sign in because you forgot to update it, contact Swift Sensors Support.

Swift Sensors Account Checklist

With the Swift Sensors Account Checklist, users can gain confidence in knowing your account is setup the right way. Completing these tasks activates the basic protections available from our sensor monitoring system and allows our customers to immediately reap the benefits of timely notifications about abnormal measurements or offline hardware.

Basic setup tasks include:

  • Adding a phone to the user profile to receive SMS or voice notifications
  • Adding thresholds to define the abnormal criteria for important measurements
  • Adding a measurement notification to know when measurements become abnormal
  • Adding a hardware notification to know when any gateway or sensor goes offline
Next to each setup task, there is an arrow button that takes the user directly to the page where a setup action is needed. Completed setup tasks appear checked to track the user’s progress. Once all basic setup tasks have been completed, the Setup Checklist is automatically dismissed. If users dismiss the Setup Checklist before completing all items, they can always restore it from the User Settings page by clicking the Restore Panels button in the Device Preferences panel.
