LRS President and CEO, John Webber and Swift Sensors Founder and CEO, Sam Cece

The team at Swift Sensors spent the past five days in Chicago at the National Restaurant Show. We shared an exhibit booth with our partner, Long Range Systems, with whom we established VEN-U Sensors.

During our time in Chicago, we received dozens of inquiries about how to increase operational efficiency, prevent food spoilage, and ensure compliance.  We thought we would share them here in hopes they can help your restaurant, too.

Challenge

I’ve had my coolers go out and lost a significant amount of inventory.  I need a system that will alert me if this problem occurs.

Solution

By using new Internet of Things (IoT) technology, restaurant owners can remotely and proactively monitor walk-in coolers with confidence and accuracy. Restaurant owners can now install small battery powered, wireless sensors about the size of a matchbox in their walk-ins and other areas of interest. These sensors check and record the temperature every few minutes and transmit the temperature data to the cloud. If temperature rises too high (or falls too low), restaurant teams are notified immediately via SMS text, email, or phone call. Action can be taken immediately to prevent spoilage and ensure food safety.

Challenge

I’m opening a number of restaurants in the coming months and I do not want my employees monitoring the condition of our equipment and facility.  I need an automated system that runs 24/7.

Solution

A manual method is highly unpredictable because the staff do not perform this routine task responsibly—and even worse, management will not know if the manual monitoring is not performed. Have your employees focus on delivering quality food and service. Swift Sensors systems ensures all critical measurements are monitored and notifications sent to managers when needed.

Challenge

Restaurant IoT

I need better tools to ensure food safety and implement our HACCP plan.   Automated monitoring of my food temperatures would be a huge improvement for my restaurants.

Solution

According to the FDA Food Code, perishable foods must be stored at 41°F or below. Ensure compliance with food safety requirements and local health departments with continuous monitoring and easy to produce reports of all food temperatures. Most important, Swift Sensors provides an extra layer of protection for your restaurant brand and reputation.
